I provide antenatal, birth and post natal doula support in East and West Sussex in the UK, covering Brighton, Hove, Lewes, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Horsham, Crawley, Crowborough, Uckfield, Eastbourne, Shoreham by Sea, Worthing, Bognor Regis, Chichester and surrounding areas.
I would be delighted to become involved at any stage of your pregnancy, whether you are the type of person/couple who likes to plan way in advance, or maybe you have only just heard of doulas and you are almost ready to give birth. Its never too late!
Typically, I offer at least 2 visits during pregnancy, either in your home or at a convenient meeting place, to discuss your plans for your birth. We can also look at any specific needs you may have, or anything that comes to light as your pregnancy progresses. As your doula, I am available to you or anyone else involved on the phone or by email with any queries or concerns, at any point during working hours. I am then on call for you 24 hours a day from 2 weeks before your due date. I will come to you whenever you feel you need me, then stay with you, quietly guiding, encouraging and supporting you. I will stay until you are settled with your new baby, then give you space and privacy to come together as a family. I follow up with at least 1 postnatal visit to reflect upon your memories and experience of birth and help support you in your new role as parent/s.
I also provide postnatal Doula support, helping you and your family during the first weeks of new parenthood.
My fee for being your birth Doula is in line with those suggested by Doula UK and is dependant on the level of support you are seeking, so please phone or email me for more info. My postnatal doula services start at £10 per hour (+ travel).
If you would like a Doula but are unable to afford it, Doula UK offer a gift voucher scheme which enables friends and family to contribute towards the cost of birth and/or postnatal Doula services, it’s a unique and caring gift – CLICK HERE for more information. If you are a low income family it’s worth looking into the Doula UK Access Fund which can help provide financial support for Doula services – CLICK HERE for more information.
I own 2 lovely inflatable birthing pools (similar to the one pictured) that can be borrowed as part of my Doula package. I can deliver the pool directly to your home as part of one of the antenatal visits, give practical tips on setting it up and of course on effective ways to use it during labour. All that I ask is for £25 to cover the cost of a new liner. I also have a TENS machine that you are welcome to borrow as an alternative form of pain relief during labour.
Backup Doula/Shared care
As your Doula I am committed to be with you throughout your birthing journey until you are settled with your new baby. In the unlikely event that a situation occurs that makes it impossible for this to happen, I will then call upon my backup doula. I am very lucky to be working in partnership with several other Brighton and Lewes based doulas with a similar outlook, knowledge and philosophy to me. Should I have to pass over my role then my back up will be thoroughly briefed with your birth plan and any individual needs, hopes and fears you may have so she will be able to provide you with the same dedicated and loving support that I would have.
Alternatively we also offer shared care packages, in which 2 of us would support you. Please get in touch if this is of interest to you.
